Kazakhstan's SEZ "Astana - new city" reveals cost of goods produced in 2021

The enterprises of the special economic zone (SEZ) "Astana - new city" manufactured goods worth more than $1 trillion (over $2.343 billion) in 2021, which is almost twice as much as in 2019 (550 billion tenge, or about $1.29 billion), CEO of the JSC “Astana-Technopolis” Special Economic Zone Management Company Bakytzhan Doskaziyev said in an interview with Trend.

According to him, there is a great demand for mineral fertilizers in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

"Mineral fertilizers are exported by a Swiss company that has built its plant on the free economic zone. In addition, Stahbau assembler of IVECO municipal equipment has export potential. Lokomotiv Kurastyru Zauyty JSC, Alstom, and a number of other enterprises also work for export," Doskaziyev said.

He mentioned that investors from Azerbaijan, Turkey, France, the USA, Poland, South Africa, Russia, and China are engaged in the SEZ.

Some 24.5 billion tenge (about $98 million at the exchange rate of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan) of state investments and 200 billion tenge (over $800 million) of private investments have been made in the special economic zone (SEZ) of Kazakhstan’s Nur-Sultan city. Products worth 3.7 trillion tenge (over $8.6 billion) were manufactured on the SEZ territory.

The territory of the industrial zones of the SEZ accounts for about 15,000 hectares. To date, the SEZ has enterprises for the production of building materials, machines, locomotives and wagons, a number of IT and start-up projects, manufacturers of medical equipment, workwear, perfumes, etc.
