BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. The number of employees in Azerbaijan as of March 1, 2022 increased by 3,600 people, or 0.2 percent, compared to the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the committee, the total number of employees in Azerbaijan as of March 1, 2022 amounted to 1.6 million people, including 902,500 in the state sector of the economy and 779,600 in the private sector.
Some 19.8 percent of the total value of employed people were in education, 18.8 percent in trade and repair of vehicles, 12.7 percent in industry, 8.1 percent in healthcare and social services and seven percent in construction, the committee said.
“Another 6.7 percent of the employed were in the sphere of public administration, defense and social security, 4.4 percent in the sphere of transport and warehousing, 3.5 percent in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 3.4 percent in scientific and technical activities, 1.9 percent - for financial and insurance activities, 13.7 percent - for other sectors of the economy,” committee noted.
According to preliminary data, the average monthly nominal wage of employees in Azerbaijan increased in 1Q2022 by 11 percent, compared to the same period last year, and amounted to 768,300 manat ($451,940).
According to this indicator, growth was recorded in the mining industry, in the spheres of financial, insurance, scientific and technical, professional activities, in the information and communication sector, and also in the field of transport and warehousing.
