BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. Retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan increased by 3.1 percent in 1Q2022 compared to the same period last year - up to 11 billion manat ($6.4 billion), Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the turnover of food products, drinks and tobacco products increased by 2.6 percent - up to 6.2 billion manat ($3.6 billion), non-food products - by 3.7 percent - up to 4.8 billion manat ($2.8 billion).

Azerbaijan’s population spent 51 percent of its funds on the purchase of food products, 5.5 percent on drinks and tobacco products, 15.2 percent on textiles, clothing and footwear, 5.2 percent on gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.7 percent - on electrical goods and furniture, 2.4 percent - pharmaceuticals and medicines, 1.1 percent - computers, telecommunications equipment and printed matter, 15.3 percent - for the purchase of other non-food products in 1Q2022, the committee said.

The cost of goods sold by business entities of the non-state sector increased by 3.2 percent during the reporting period compared to 1Q2021 and amounted to 99.8 percent of the total retail trade turnover.

Retail trade turnover in real terms increased by 13.3 percent for enterprises, by 1.3 percent for individual entrepreneurs and by 1.1 percent for markets and fairs from January through March 2022 compared to the same period 2021.

The average monthly turnover of retail trade in Azerbaijan per capita amounted to 365.1 manat ($214.7), including the turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products - 206.2 manat ($121.2), non-food products - 158.9 manat ($93.4).
