BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 7. Montenegro is ready to become a transit country for gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Europe, Ervin Ibrahimović, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Capital Investments of Montenegro told Trend.
"We have been closely cooperating with Azerbaijan for many years. In particular, we have signed many memoranda of understanding with the country and local companies. We are ready to facilitate the construction of a pipeline on the territory of Montenegro, through which gas from Azerbaijan will continue to reach European countries," he said.
Ibrahimović noted that Azerbaijan and Montenegro have established both productive partnership and friendly relations.
"We are happy to have Azerbaijan as our friend, and we are sure that in the future, if necessary, Azerbaijan will provide us with the necessary assistance. Montenegro is not a country dependent on gas, we generally do not use gas in households. However, perhaps in the future there will be a need for gas, and this will open up new prospects for cooperation with Azerbaijan," he said.
Earlier, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Capital Investments of Montenegro Ervin Ibrahimović attended the 9th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council as well as the 1st Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council in Baku.
