BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 25. The Zangezur corridor will significantly facilitate the implementation of the supply of green electricity to Europe, Javid Abdullayev, Head of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy, said in an interview with local TV, Trend reports.
According to him, it will allow to sell part of the electricity in Türkiye, and then export the rest further to the European market.
The head of the agency added that Azerbaijan has already received proposals for the construction of several renewable energy plants in Nakhchivan.
"This initiative has great advantages. This will significantly reduce transmission costs. Also, there is a very high potential for the development of projects in the solar energy sector, thanks to good radiation. Just a few days ago, these investor companies visited Nakhchivan, and were able to see these opportunities. We expect a big breakthrough in this regard in the near future," Abdullayev said.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan plans to supply green electricity in several directions, one of which is the route through Nakhchivan to Türkiye and the rest of Europe, which, in fact, is an element of the Zangezur corridor.
