BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30. As many as 232,500 foreigners and stateless persons from 148 countries visited Azerbaijan in the first two months of 2023, increasing 1.5 times year over year, Trend reports referring to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.
According to the committee, out of the overall number of foreign visitors, 32.4 percent came from Russia, 21 percent – from Türkiye, 9.2 percent – from Iran, 5.7 percent – from Georgia, 3.8 percent – from India, 3.1 percent – from Pakistan, 3.1 percent – from the UAE, and 1.8 percent – from Saudi Arabia.
Kazakhstan comprised 1.7 percent of the visitors, Ukraine – 1.5 percent, Kuwait – 1.9 percent, Belarus – 1.5 percent, Uzbekistan – 1.4 percent, and Turkmenistan – 1.3 percent, while other countries accounted for 10.6 percent.
In the reporting period, compared to the first two months of 2022, the number of guests from Pakistan increased by 7.2 times, India – 6.7 times, Uzbekistan – 5.8 times, Turkmenistan – 5.1 times, Belarus – 4.3 times, China – 3.6 times, Kazakhstan – 2.4 times, Israel – 1.9 times, the UAE and Oman – 1.8 times, Kuwait – 1.6 times, Georgia – 1.5 times, the US – 1.7 times, Russia – 1.5 times, the UK – by 1.5 times, Türkiye – by 33.4 percent, Ukraine – by 8.8 percent, and from Iran – by 7.8 percent.
In 2022, over 1.6 million foreigners and stateless persons from 178 countries visited Azerbaijan, which was twice the figure for 2021.
