Türkiye's Istanbul Airport sees increase in passenger flow

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. The number of passengers arriving at Türkiye's Istanbul Airport in March 2023 increased by 45 percent and reached 16.5 million people, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

Passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 3.6 million people (an increase of 24 percent), and on international flights to 12.9 million people (an increase of 52 percent).

The airport's cargo turnover in March this year amounted to 595,494 tons increased by 22 percent, compared to the same period in 2022. On top of that, in the reporting month of 2023, the airport's cargo turnover on domestic flights increased by 36 percent year-on-year, and totaled 51,881 tons, while on international flights - by 21 percent year-on-year, to 543,613 tons.

Furthermore, the number of flights from the airport in March 2023 increased by 39 percent, compared to the same period in 2022, and amounted to 113,845. At the same time, the number of domestic flights increased by 33 percent, to 27,845, and that of international flights - by 41 percent, to 86,000.

In March 2023, passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye amounted to 38.94 million people, while cargo turnover totaled 833,949 tons.

Meanwhile, in 2022, passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye reached 181.9 million people, while cargo turnover amounted to more than 4 million tons.
