BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. The Port of Iskenderun in Türkiye handled 14.4 million tons of cargo from January through April 2023, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the country told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, 350,973 tons of cargo were transported from the port of Iskenderun by ships under the flag of the country, while by ships under the flags of other countries - 14.1 million tons.
"Some 924,412 tons of transit cargo were handled in the Turkish port of Iskenderun from January through April 2023," the ministry said in a statement.
Moreover, the ports received 33.6 million tons of cargo in April 2023.
During this period, cargo traffic to domestic ports on ships under the Turkish flag reached 2.3 million tons.
At the same time, cargo transportation of vessels under the flags of other countries to the above ports totaled 31.2 million tons.
In addition, in the fourth month of the current year, 5.1 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye.
During the first four months of 2023, the ports received 125.2 million cargo.
In the specified period, cargo acceptance by vessels under the country's flag amounted to 8.8 million tons, while by ships under the flags of other countries, cargo transportation to the ports reached 116.3 million tons.
Overall, the report says that in the mentioned period, about 23.4 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the country's ports.
