BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 12. The number of passengers arriving at Istanbul International Airport amounted to 29 billion people (an increase of 35 percent) in May 2023, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye, the airport's passenger traffic on domestic flights increased by 23 percent and amounted to 6.8 billion people, and on international flights - by 39 percent, amounting to 22.2 billion people, in May.
The airport's cargo turnover amounted to 993,856 tons in May this year, an increase of 4 percent compared to the same period in 2022. The airport's cargo turnover on domestic flights increased by 22 percent in May 2023 compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to 86,330 tons, while on international flights - by 2 percent, amounting to 907,526 tons.
The number of airport flights in May 2023 increased by 31 percent compared to May 2022 and amounted to 198,659. At the same time, the number of domestic flights increased by 30 percent and amounted to 51,142, and international flights - by 32 percent, amounting to 147,517.
Passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye amounted to 73.3 billion people, and cargo turnover - 1.4 billion tons, in May 2023.
Meanwhile, passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye amounted to 181.9 billion people, while cargo turnover - 4 billion tons, in 2022.
