Volume of grain exports to Azerbaijan from Russia’s Volgograd region disclosed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 7. A total of 9,500 tons of grain and its processed products were exported from Russia's Volgograd region to Azerbaijan in the first half of 2023, Trend reports.

According to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor), the products have passed laboratory control, comply with quarantine phytosanitary requirements of the importing country and are approved for export.

"The Rosselkhoznadzor continues to expand the list of organizations from Russia that have the right to export to Azerbaijan," the Rosselkhoznadzor said.

The export of grain products from the Volgograd region in the first half of 2023 increased 1.5 times compared to the same period of the previous year to 260,000 tons of grain and its processed products.

The largest export from this region is corn, which accounts for 55.1 percent of exported grain and its processed products. As many as 5,300 tons of wheat were exported (12.8 percent of the total volume).

According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani food imports from January through May 2023 increased in value terms by 5.36 percent ($46.9 million) and amounted to $921.9 million.

Azerbaijan imported more than 530,160 tons of wheat, corn and rice worth over $180.2 million.
