BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10. Retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan increased by 3.1 percent, reaching 31.1 billion manat ($18.3 billion) from January through July 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, the turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products increased by 2 percent (up to 17.5 billion manat or $10.3 billion), non-food products - by 4.3 percent (up to 13.6 billion manat or $8 billion).

The population spent 52 percent of funds on the purchase of food products, 4.4 percent - on beverages and tobacco products, 12.5 percent - on textiles, clothing and footwear, 5.4 percent - on motor fuel, 4.7 percent - on electrical goods and furniture, 2.3 percent - on pharmaceutical products and medicines, one percent - on computers, 17.6 percent - for other non-food products from January through July 2023.

The cost of goods sold by economic entities of the non-state sector increased by 3.1 percent and amounted to 99.7 percent of the total retail trade turnover during the reporting period compared to the period from January through July 2022.

Retail trade turnover in real terms increased by 0.9 percent for enterprises, by 3.8 percent for markets and fairs, for individual entrepreneurs - by four percent from January through July 2023 compared to the same period last year.

Moreover, average monthly turnover of retail trade in Azerbaijan per capita amounted to 437.9 manat ($257.6), including the turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products - 246.9 manat ($145.2), non–food products - 191 manat ($112.4).

In general, retail trade turnover increased by 3.1 percent in 2022 in Azerbaijan compared to 2021 and reached 52.2 billion manat ($30.7 billion). The turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products increased by 2.3 percent (up to 29.4 billion manat or $17.3 billion), non-food products - by four percent (up to 22.8 billion manat or $13.4 billion).
