Azerbaijan records growth in sea cargo transportation

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 23. Cargo transportation by sea in Azerbaijan exceeded 5.4 million tons from January through July 2023, which is 24.8 percent more than in the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, passenger transportation by sea in the reporting period amounted to 12,700 people, which is 5.8 percent more than from January through July 2022.

Cargo transshipment by the seaports of Azerbaijan in the specified period amounted to over 7.4 million tons, and transit cargo - 6.1 million tons (82.1 percent).

In general, 56.7 percent of Azerbaijan's export cargo transportation by sea accounted for oil.

The volume of cargo in the ports of Azerbaijan amounted to 285,700 tons.

Cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Azerbaijan amounted to 128.3 million tons from January through July 2023, which is 6.5 percent higher than in the same period of 2022.

In general, Azerbaijan had more than 1 billion passengers during the reporting period, which is 16.3 percent more than it did during the same time in 2022.
