ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 16. The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan from January through August 2023 increased 2.7 times, compared to the same period last year ($238.58 million), and totaled $644.76 million, Trend reports.
Based on information provided by the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee (SCC), Turkmenistan ranked among TOP-15 nations concerning trade volume with Azerbaijan in the first 8 months of this year.
In this timeframe, Turkmenistan's exports to Azerbaijan reached a total of $588.14 million, marking a 2.5-fold increase compared to the corresponding period in 2022 ($226.45 million).
Turkmenistan's share in the overall Azerbaijani import volume during the mentioned period equaled 5.27 percent, which represents a significant rise from 2.55 percent in the first 8 months of the previous year.
Turkmenistan raised its imports from Azerbaijan by 4.6 times from January through August 2023 in contrast to the same period in 2022, reaching a total of $56.62 million, up from $12.13 million.
Turkmenistan's contribution to the overall Azerbaijani export volume in this period amounted to 0.23 percent, showing an increase from 0.05 percent in the first 8 months of 2022.
Meanwhile, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan amounted to $535.3 million last year.
