BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 21. Azerbaijan imported products worth more than $11.1 billion from January through August 2023, which is 25.73 percent more year-on-year ($8.8 billion), Trend reports.
The data of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan shows that 668.3 million tons of wheat worth $183.5 million (up 23.92 percent year-on-year), 563.8 million tons of ferrous metals and products thereof worth $703.2 million (up 27.43 percent), 205.7 million tons of fruits and vegetables - $139.7 million (down 14.08 percent), 192.7 million tons of plastics and plastic products - $352.7 million (up 37 percent) and 87.5 million tons of fats and oils of vegetable and animal origin - $115.3 million (down 11.83 percent).
It is worth noting that for eight months of 2023, the share of wheat in total imports is 1.65 percent, ferrous metals and products thereof - 6.31 percent, vegetables and fruits - 1.25 percent, plastics and products thereof - 3.16 percent, fats and oils of vegetable and animal origin - 0.54 percent.
