BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 10. During a meeting of representatives of the Information and Communication Technologies Agency with postal operators of Azerbaijan, the issues of amending the current law and development of a new draft law on postal services were discussed, Trend reports.

The Agency noted that the main purpose of the meeting was to take necessary steps to form a regulatory framework for prompt resolution of problems faced by postal operators, generalize the accumulated foreign experience in the field of regulation of postal communication and develop practice-oriented approaches, as well as to listen to the opinions and proposals of operators to improve the efficiency of work in the field of postal communication.

It was noted at the meeting that current legislation in the area of postal communications covers more universal postal services, and there is a need to create a new legislative framework that meets the requirements of more competitive and modern postal services in the service markets.

The agency is currently working on the preparation and approval of draft "Regulations on license conditions for express mail services" to regulate the activities of postal operators in the service market, as well as drafting the necessary amendments to the current law "On Post".

During the discussions, postal operators noted that in order to create a competitive environment and improve the quality of service, it is necessary to tighten the requirements for postal operators, as well as to prevent unfair competition in the service market, measures should be taken against postal operators working without a license.

The Agency for Information and Communication Technologies is responsible for telecommunications and postal services. The agency's goal is to create a digital environment of high-quality and accessible services.
