BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 28. This year, customs revenues accounted for 4.2 percent of Azerbaijan's GDP, Chairman of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan Shahin Baghirov said within Trend News Agency's "Relevant with Sahil Karimli" project.
"The non-oil industry accounts for 8.3 percent of customs income. This graph indicates that the revenues collected by customs officials are an indicator of GDP development and efficiency as a whole, indicating their usefulness. Of course, this has been accomplished through specific action programs aimed at shaping these procedures, and customs officials have deployed their expertise and abilities to meet these targets," he said.
Baghirov also mentioned that this year's revenues to the state budget of Azerbaijan through customs exceeded the forecast.
"The forecast for the current year in the revenue part of the state budget of Azerbaijan was set in the amount of 5.7 billion manat ($3.3 billion) on customs revenues. At present, the state budget has already received more than 6 billion manat ($3.5 billion), which in turn marks a record figure in the history of the country," he emphasized.
The data from the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan shows that Azerbaijan's GDP grew by 0.8 percent from January through November 2023 year-on-year, up to 110.2 billion manat ($64.8 billion).
Revenues to the state budget of Azerbaijan through the SCC increased by 30.21 percent in 2022 over the past year, up to 5.6 billion manat ($3.2 billion).
