BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. KazMunayGas JSC (KMG), the national oil and gas company of Kazakhstan, is open to cooperation on green projects with SOCAR (Azerbaijan's State Oil Company), Chairman of the Management Board Magzum Myrzagaliev told Trend in an exclusive interview.
"We persist in exploring and evaluating the potential of collaborative ventures. In this context, I wouldn't discount the possibility of future discussions regarding joint green projects," he said.
He expressed KMG's desire for the relationship with SOCAR to extend beyond transportation matters and encompass a comprehensive spectrum of cooperation opportunities.
In 2022, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev directed the increase in oil transportation volumes along the Middle Corridor. Following this directive, KazMunayGas and SOCAR entered into an agreement to transport 1.5 million tons of oil annually from the Tengiz field towards the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.
Therefore, in 2023, Kazakhstan boosted its oil export volume to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline direction to 1.392 million tons.
