BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 15. The number of hired workers in Azerbaijan increased by 7,900 people, or 0.46 percent, as of February 1, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, the total number of hired workers for the first quarter of 2024 amounted to 1.725 million people, including 901,700 people in the public sector of the economy and 823,400 people in the private sector.
Out of the total number of employed citizens, 19.2 percent work in education, 18.6 percent in trade and vehicle repair, and 8.5 percent in health care and social services.

Meanwhile, according to preliminary data, the average monthly nominal wage of salaried employees in Azerbaijan in January 2024 increased by 10.1 percent compared to the same period in 2023 and amounted to 942.4 manat.
The average monthly nominal wage was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, and scientific and technical activities.
