BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. From January through February 2024, the number of passengers transported by sea in Azerbaijan climbed by 42.9 percent compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 4,000, Trend reports, referring to Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee.
The volume of cargo moved by sea for the aforementioned time totaled 1,273 tons, an increase of 15.9 percent over the previous year.
Oil cargoes accounted for 50.5 percent of all cargoes. Seaports loaded and unloaded 2,072 tons, with transit cargoes accounting for 1,658 tons (80.0 percent).
As of March 1, 2024, the total volume of cargo remaining in ports was 136,400 tons.
