BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 19. Azerbaijan imported 134,870 tons of wheat from January through February 2024, which is 49.7 percent (133,244 tons) less than the indicator for the same period in 2023, Trend reports, referring to the State Customs Committee.
The committee's data shows that wheat imports exceeded $30.888 million in value terms (62.3 percent, or a $51.099 million reduction over the year).
The share of wheat imports in the reporting period amounted to 1.26 percent of Azerbaijan's total imports.
From January through February 2024, Azerbaijan's food imports increased in value terms by 4.92 percent ($17.744 million) and amounted to $378.112 million.
Azerbaijan imported 1.175 million tons of wheat in 2023, which is 9.1 percent (117,655 tons) less than in 2022.
