BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. The number of wage workers in Azerbaijan increased by 11,400 people, or 0.66 percent, as of March 1, 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
According to Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee, the total
number of hired workers as of March 1, 2024, was 1.727 million,
with 899,700 in the public sector and 827,500 in the private
sector.
Of all employed residents, 19.2 percent work in education, 18.7
percent in trade and auto repair, and 8.4 percent in health care
and social services.

According to preliminary data, the average monthly nominal salary of hired workers in Azerbaijan from January through February 2024 increased by 10.8 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 946.8 manat ($556.5).
To note, the average monthly nominal wage was higher in the mining industry, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, as well as in the sphere of scientific and technical activities.
