BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 7. Investments in nuclear power are set to increase in 2024, marking a turnaround after two consecutive years of decline, the International Energy Agency (IEA) expects, Trend reports.

As such, the share of nuclear power in clean energy investments is expected to rise to 9 percent, with total investment projected to reach $80 billion, the IEA forecasts.

This figure represents nearly double the investment level recorded in 2018, which marked the lowest point in a decade.

Although investment in nuclear power remained relatively stable in 2023, a forecasted growth of approximately 20 percent in 2024 indicates renewed momentum in the sector, the agency noted.

Meanwhile, global energy investment is projected to exceed $3 trillion for the first time in 2024. Of this total, $2 trillion will be allocated to clean energy technologies and infrastructure. Since 2020, investment in clean energy has accelerated, with spending on renewable power, grids, and storage now surpassing that on oil, gas, and coal.
