BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. The number of hired workers in Azerbaijan increased by 15,500 people or 0.89 percent, as of May 1, 2024, compared to the same period of 2023, Trend reports.
As of May 1, 2024, 1.7 million people were employed in Azerbaijan, with 897,000 working for the government and 852,700 for private companies, as the data from the from the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reads.
Education accounts for 19 percent of the employed, trade and auto repair account for 18.7 percent, and health care and social services 8.4 percent.

To note, according to preliminary data, the average monthly nominal wage of salaried employees in Azerbaijan from January through April 2024 increased by 10.2 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 1,007 manat ($592.1).
The mining industry, financial and insurance activities, information and communication, and scientific and technical activities all exhibited a higher average monthly nominal wage.
