BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 11. Explaining the benefits of competition policy and its development in Azerbaijan is crucial, said Mammad Abbasbayli, Head of the State Service for Antimonopoly Control and Consumer Market Supervision under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, Trend reports.
He made the remark at the first National Competitiveness Forum held in Baku.
"When we talk about a culture of competition, we mean the importance of explaining the benefits of competition policy and its development in our country. This is vital not only for the entire nation but also for our entrepreneurs, business entities, and state institutions," Abbasbayli said.
He highlighted that the first National Competitiveness Forum opens new opportunities, with more such forums planned for the future.
The annual forum is set to coincide with the implementation of the new competition law. Its purpose is to create a platform for open dialogue on key local and global competition challenges. The forum offers a unique opportunity to discuss important issues with a broad audience across the country. In the future, it will serve as a platform for discussing the development of competition policy, enhancing economic competitiveness, and promoting sustainable economic development. Establishing a culture of competition requires systematic work and active participation from all stakeholders," Abbasbayli added.
He emphasized that fostering a culture of competition means ensuring a comprehensive understanding and adoption of competition legislation throughout the country.
The State Service for Antimonopoly Supervision and Consumer Market Control is involved in preparing and implementing state policy in areas such as antimonopoly policy, public procurement, technical regulation, standardization, metrology, and consumer protection. The service's main mission is to create conditions for free competition and effective protection of businesses.
