BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 11. GaffneyCline Company and the Natural Gas Research Institute of Turkmenistan have developed a seven-phase plan for the development of the Galkynysh gas field, Business Development Manager at Gaffney Cline & Associates Tim Davis told Trend at the Turkmenistan Investment Forum (TIF 2024) in Ashgabat.

He made the remark during a panel discussion titled "Role of the fuel and energy sector of Turkmenistan in the regional energy transition: Main trends and investment opportunities. Energy sustainability", as part of the Turkmenistan Investment Forum (TIF 2024) in Ashgabat.

"The research outlines seven phases of development. The first and second phases have already been worked through. Phases two through four are being discussed with international investors, highlighting the potential for expanding the field," Davis explained.

According to him, gas production at the Galkynysh field will continue for 50 years, underscoring its long-term importance. The development plan also includes a key pipeline project to Afghanistan and Pakistan (TAPI), aimed at increasing gas exports.

"Turkmenistan, along with Turkmengas and Turkmennebit state concerns, is actively seeking investments to further develop the reserves of Galkynysh, Yashlar, and Garakel. The confirmed reserves of 27 trillion cubic meters of gas at the Galkynysh field strengthen its role as a major global energy asset," the company's manager added.

Today, construction began on the Serhetabat-Herat section, which is a key stage in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.
