BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 1. Azerbaijan is committed to the green transformation initiatives for the Middle Corridor, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rahman Hummatov said during panel discussions at the international conference as part of Climate Action Week in Baku today, Trend reports.

"Azerbaijan, together with its partners, is committed to green transformation initiatives for the Middle Corridor. We are exploring ways to integrate digital solutions on transport routes to enhance environmental resilience by reducing transit times and consequently lowering greenhouse gas emissions," he emphasized.

According to him, the transport sector can achieve significant environmental transformations by expanding the use of eco-friendly vehicles, implementing sustainable public transport programs, creating the necessary infrastructure, and increasing alternative forms of passenger transportation.

"By investing in strategic infrastructure, Azerbaijan is taking important steps to transform the transport routes passing through its territory," he noted.

The deputy minister also mentioned that the Zangezur Corridor will become the shortest and safest transit route between Europe, Central Asia, and China.

To note, the Middle Corridor has been under development since 2014 but has seen significant growth only in the last three years.

To further integrate the Middle Corridor into the global supply chain, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia have established a joint multimodal transport company, which was recently joined by China.
