BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 18. TotalEnergies and Eni have signed a Host Government Agreement (HGA) with Egypt and Cyprus to advance the development of gas resources in Cyprus’s offshore Block 6, Trend reports.
The agreement was signed during the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) in the presence of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Cypriot President Níkos Christodoulídis.
The agreement outlines plans to process gas from the Cronos field, discovered in 2022 and appraised in early 2024, at Egypt’s Zohr facilities. The gas will then be liquefied at the Damietta LNG plant for export to European markets.
Following this milestone, TotalEnergies and Eni will move forward with the Cronos Development and Production Plan in coordination with Cypriot authorities. The project is expected to enhance regional energy cooperation and support Europe’s energy security.
