ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 19. Kazakhstan and Jordan have agreed to expand mutual investments and trade relations during a meeting between President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein of Jordan, Trend reports.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein of Jordan. At the beginning of the conversation, the President congratulated King Abdullah II on the 25th anniversary of his reign, wishing him continued success in implementing constructive initiatives for ensuring sustainable growth and prosperity for the people of Jordan and raising the country's international stature.

Tokayev expressed appreciation to the Jordanian leader for his contribution to strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. According to him, Jordan enjoys international recognition for its unwavering commitment to peace and stability.

"The goal of my visit is to give an additional boost to our relations, friendship, trade, and economic ties. I believe that we share common views and assessments of the processes happening in the world. At the same time, we are very interested in strengthening ties at the political level. We have some ideas. I am confident that in the near future we will be able to reach concrete agreements and achieve very good results. We are ready to work hard within the framework of our cooperation. We consider Jordan a friendly country. We are united by much," he noted.

Tokayev emphasized that the Joint Statement and agreements to be adopted today serve as an example of the common desire to enhance Kazakh-Jordanian interaction across the full spectrum of bilateral and multilateral agendas.

King Abdullah noted that the visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev opens up great opportunities for further expanding bilateral political, trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

"I am pleased to welcome you and your esteemed delegation to Jordan. It is gratifying that today good opportunities are opening up for activating economic ties, especially for the private sector, which, of course, is of vital importance," emphasized the King of Jordan.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of contacts in key sectors such as trade, investments, industry, agriculture, transport and logistics, tourism, energy, digitalization, and pharmaceuticals.

Special attention was given to expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. Currently, about 300 Jordanian citizens are studying at medical universities in Kazakhstan.

The President of Kazakhstan and the King of Jordan also exchanged views on current issues of international and regional security.

In conclusion, Tokayev invited the King of Jordan to visit Kazakhstan.

To note, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is on an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. President Tokayev was met at Queen Alia International Airport by Prince Ali bin al-Hussein and the Prime Minister of Jordan, Jaafar Hassan. A number of bilateral documents are expected to be adopted during negotiations with King Abdullah II in both narrow and expanded formats.
