Georgia opens new aircraft manufacturing plant

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 16

A new aircraft manufacturing plant has been opened on the territory of Tbilisi Aircraft Manufacturing, where aircraft owned by the Defence Forces of Georgia will be fully restored and repaired by Georgian specialists in accordance with modern standards, Trend reports via the Ministry of Defense of Georgia.

Spread over 3,000 m3 territory the new plant was opened by Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and Economy Minister Natia Turnava.

Currently, Mi-24 helicopters belonging to the Georgian Defense Forces are being repaired at the new plant. In addition to the Mi-24s, the Mi-8 Mtv, UH-1 Iroquois, and L-39 training aircraft will be renovated and upgraded in the near future.

Infrastructure and repair works are being carried out on the territory of the aircraft factory as well.
