Administration of Georgian side of BTK project talks on infrastructure works

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 12

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Infrastructure work on the Georgian section of the new Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line continues in an active mode, the administration of the Georgian side of the BTK project told Trend.

The source noted that the highest point of the line is at the Taparavani-Pokani section, located at 2,183 meters above sea level. This factor is important to consider when implementing a project.

According to the Georgian side of the project, testing of the installed signaling, centralization, blocking, and communication systems is also underway.

"In the entire Georgian section, measures are being taken to bring it in line with safety norms and standards. We are working hard to complete the work," said the Georgian officials.

Meanwhile, a mechanized point for unloading large-tonnage containers has been created on the Georgian section of the railway, which is equipped with a crane with a lifting capacity of 46 tons.

The BTK railway has been built on the basis of the Azerbaijani-Georgian-Turkish intergovernmental agreement. It can greatly reduce the time of delivery of goods from China to Europe via Azerbaijan, which makes this route especially attractive.
