Construction of new water reservoirs in Uzbekistan to improve water supply of land areas

The construction of the Bulungur water reservoir in the Samarkand region, the capacity of which amounts to 100 million cubic meters, will be completed next year, Trend reports with reference to the Uzbek national news agency.

A press conference was held at the Press House of Samarkand region with the participation of the head of the Basin Department of Zarafshan Irrigation Systems Farhod Razhabov, at which the construction of new reservoirs was discussed

In addition to the Bulungur water reservoir, it is planned to complete the second stage of construction of the Okchobsoy reservoir in Kushrabad district in 2021.

Also, the Anzhirli reservoir with a capacity of 700,000 cubic meters will be built in the Nurabad district.

Water supply to 21,843 hectares will be improved during the construction of Bulungur. After the completion of the second stage of construction of the Okchobsoy reservoir, 855 hectares of land will be provided with water. And Anjirli reservoir will help to develop 730 hectares of new land areas.

In addition, the construction of the Choshtepa, Gijduvan, and Oktepasoy reservoirs will begin in 2023.

Earlier it was reported that a seven-year plan for the transformation of the water supply system in Tashkent was developed, in the implementation of which the French SUEZ company will be involved.

The French side said that to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the plan, a roadmap has been developed and a list of companies has been prepared with which the project can be implemented.
