Iran's Shiraz-Isfahan controlled-access highway to be put into operation

The controlled-access highway between Iran’s Shiraz in Fars province and Isfahan cities in Isfahan Province will be put into operation in the first half of next Iranian year (starting March 21, 2021), Deputy Minister of Iran's Roads and Urban Development, CEO of Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructure Company Kheirollah Khademi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

The deputy minister noted that there is 83 percent progress in the construction of this controlled-access highway of which is 225 kilometers long.

Khademi added that the controlled-access highway contains 7 parts. With the exception of the 7th part, there is 90 percent progress in the remaining sections.

As reported, the distance between the two cities will be reduced by 110 km with the launch of the Shiraz-Isfahan controlled-access highway. About 15.2 trillion rials (about $362 million) has been allocated for the construction of this controlled-access highway in recent days.

The construction of the Shiraz-Isfahan controlled-access highway began in 2010.
