The construction of the Shiraz-Bushehr Railway Project is accelerating, said the Deputy Minister of Road and Urban Development, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.
The necessary decisions have been taken to accelerate the completion of the railway project by financing and even credit from oil barter, Khyrollah Khademi noted.
Financial resources for the project are limited to 2.5 trillion rials (about $5.9 billion) and $1 billion are required. The Ministry of Road and Urban Development has suggested paying $200 million credit for the completion of the first phase of the railway in the next one and half years.
Ministry of Petroleum has also suggested financing the railway construction in return for transportation of oil and petrochemical products from refineries in Assaluyeh by rail.
The 450 km Shiraz-Bushehr project includes 11 rail pieces and the next phase is the construction of 205 km rail from Bushehr to Assaluyeh.
