By Amina Nazarli - Trend:

Turkmenistan's national freight forwarding company, Turkmen Milli Logistic OJSC (TML) intends to become the representative of the Kherson shipyard of Smart Maritime Group, Ukraine's largest shipbuilding company, Trend reports citing Turkmenportal.

TML also agreed to collaborate with the Kherson State Maritime Academy and the Science Park under the academy of Maritime Industry Innovations.

The parties have already begun to prepare for the signing of the agreements scheduled for late March-early April 2022 during the Baltic-Black Sea Economic Forum to be held in Kherson, Ukraine.

The cooperation aims to provide Turkmenistan with new opportunities, such as the implementation of joint shipbuilding and ship repair projects, with a portion of the work completed at shipyards in Ukraine and a portion completed by Turkmen specialists.

This could also be an opportunity for Turkmenistan to meet its target of 12 vessels built in the country by 2025 in accordance with the seven-year program of socio-economic development.

Being one of the best in Europe, Kherson State Maritime Academy currently has a unique training base, provided with modern simulators. Maritime Industry Innovations Park has unique developments in the material science and metal protection segment.

Smart Maritime Group has extensive international experience in ship repair and modernization, repairing approximately 80 ships per year. Over the last 15 years, the holding has built over 40 vessels, including three product tankers, five tugs, ten ship hulls, and fifteen river chemical tanker hulls.
