BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 29. For the first time, recycling of construction and demolition waste has begun in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, the Reconstruction, Construction, and Management Service in the Karabakh Economic Region told Trend.
According to the service, garbage processing is carried out primarily in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam district. Technological equipment for recycling waste and remnants of destroyed buildings has already been installed in the first-built settlements. Most of the processed products will be used in the construction of roads. As a result, zero levels of waste will be achieved.
"Currently, work has begun on the construction of the villages of Kangarli, Khidirli, and Sarijali in the Agdam district. In the villages, the cleaning of the territory from garbage has begun, and landfills for garbage have been built. Waste from demolition is returned to production as recyclable materials," the service said.
According to the service, if this method is used throughout Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, the territories will be cleared without waste.
"Laboratory analyses of waste samples returned for recycling have been carried out, and positive results have been obtained. We will turn 10 million cubic meters of rubble into building material," the service said.
In general, landscaping works are being carried out at an accelerated pace in Lachin, Zangilan, Jabrayil, Aghdam, Kalbajar, Khojavend, and Fuzuli districts.
