( Worldcarfans ) - Back in Februari at the Geneva Motor Show we were privileged enough to witness the return of the Abarth brand at the Fiat stable. First case in point for the scorpion brand was the Grande Punto Abarth Concept at the Geneva Motor Show, followed last week at Frankfurt by the Grande Punto Abarth SS (pronounced esseesse but an abreviation for Super Sport). But until today we were only in the possession of computer rendered images.
Also released today are more detailed specifications of the high performance Fiat Grande Punto. The car comes with a 1.4 liter 155 hp (206 Nm torque) turbo petrol engine and a six-speed manual gearbox, top speed is 208 km/h and a 0 - 100 km/h sprint should not take more than 8.2 seconds.
The Esse Esse version sports a booster kit on the same engine and ends up producing 180 hp (272 Nm torque) and is dressed up with a body kit. Top speed is measured at 215 km/h and manages to hit the 100 km/h mark from stand still in 7.7 seconds.
