Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry Subsidizes Grain Producers

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr U. Ismayilova / The Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture will allocate subsidies to grain producers in December in the sum of AZN 40 for each sowed hectare, the Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister Ismat Abbasov said.

On 14 November, the Azerbaijani Cabinet decreed on allocation of subsidies to grain producers in order to stimulate grain production, to improve interested motives of producers and to meet bread demand through internal production.

A part of the funds will be allotted from budget reserves envisaged for fuel subsidies. The remaining part will be allocated from the reserves envisaged for fertilizer producers.

According to the Minister, AZN 40 per hectare is not a small sum, given the fact that at the beginning of the year the Government allotted AZN 80mln for agricultural development and farmers were exempted from eight taxes with nine available. Azerbaijani farmers pay only land tax.

"The Azerbaijani Government created all conditions to provide food security," the Minister said.
