Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 January / Trend corr U. Imayilova / The premiums of the Azerbaijani insurance companies have increased in 2007 by 62.7% (AZN 147.2) compared to 2006. In 2006, the premiums of the insurance companies made up AZN 90.45mln, the Azerbaijani Finance Ministry reported.
In 2007, life insurance premiums comprised AZN 2.19mln, non-life insurance AZN 123.83mln and obligatory insurance 21.18mln.
The insurance companies' payments in 2007 totalled AZN 35.62mln, which is 33.6% down from 2006. Life insurance payment totalled AZN 0.22mln, non-life insurance AZN 27.84mln and obligatory insurance AZN 7.56mln.
There are 30 insurance companies currently operating in Azerbaijan.
