Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 July / Trend corr. S.Babayeva/ Grain production in Azerbaijan totalled 1.3mln tons collected from 863,100 hectares of sown area by 1 July, which is 57.5% of total sown area, State Statistical Committee reported. Grain production grew by 388,700 tons of 42.1% from 2007.
Harvest totalled 26.4 centners per hectare, which is a half centner more than in 2007. Harvest is still underway.
Azerbaijan's Agricultural Ministry forecasts grain production to comprise 2.3mln tons in 2008, while the demand is 3mln tons, 1.5mln tons of which is bread-grain.
