Azerbaijan, Lankarn, 30 July / Trend corr. P.Aliyeva / Grain production has increased in Lerik region in Azerbaijan for the latest five years. In 2007, some 7,847 tons of grain was collected, but in 2008 the figure will be reached to 9,000 tons.
Some 3,904 tons of harvest have been already pounded, Habil Malikov, Deputy Director on social and economic issues in the Lerik City Administration, said.
According to Malikov, there are 11,400 hectares of harvest suitable lands with 2,352 hectare grain and bean sowed areas in the region.
Some 2,144 hectares of land was sowed in Lerik to provide food security in this season, and 117 hectares fell on the territory of Jangariman.
"The paid subsidies to farmers to sow areas give its positive results. No exploitable areas were sowed.
The harvest made up 20% or 25% and 40% and 45% in some areas.
According to farmer Tofik Safarov, he sowed grain on 30 hectares land in 2007. This year Safarov sowed 47 hectares land through the state aid.
