ECO Agriculture Ministers to Come Together in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 September /corr. Trend S.Babayeva / The agriculture ministers of the member organizations of the Economic Co-operation Organization (ECO) will come together in Baku.  

The Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan reported that together with the delegates from the member-countries of ECO headed by the Secretary General of the organization, Khurshid Anwar, the meeting, which will take place from 8 to 10 September, is expected to be attended by the high-ranking delegates from Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Convention on Plant Variety Protection (UPOV), International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), International Epizootic Bureau.

"This will be the fourth meeting of the agriculture ministers of ECO member nations. The previous meeting took place in Teheran," the Ministry said.

The agenda of session includes discussions over regional program of ECO regarding food security, donor organizations, and also strengthening supply of the ECO countries with the seed plants, the development of biotechnology, the activity of the veterinary commissions of organization, co-operation and exchange of experience.

As a result of this meeting, Baku declaration will be adopted and place and time will be determined for the next meeting of the ECO agriculture ministers.
