London stock market opens lower

London's leading shares took a tumble in early trading on Monday as traders still feared recession of British economy, reported Xinhua.

By 0908 GMT, the FTSE 100 share index was 4.90 percent or 190.31 points lower at 3693.05.

There were no gainers in early trading, and banking and mining stocks were worst hit.

HSBC was down 10.45 per cent, LSEG down 9.79 per cent, and Rio Tinto fell 8.39 per cent.
