Opening of Possible Corridor between Kazakhstan and Kuwait Discussed in Astana

Kazakhstan, Astana, 3 November / Trend , corr. K.Konirova /Kuwait and Kazakhstan intend to open a transport corridor between the two countries via Iran, Kairat Lama Sharif, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, said at the first meeting of the Kazakhstan-Kuwait joint commission on trade and economic cooperation.

According to Sharif, "we are ready to consider opening of the transport corridor to develop trade and economic cooperation between our countries."

Sharif said that the route of the transport corridor will begin from the port of Aktau, and will be continued to the Iranian port on the Caspian Sea, and then it will pass the Iranian territory to one of the ports of the Persian Gulf and from there to Kuwait.

According to Sharif, there is another alternative route, which will cross the southern regions of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran and Kuwait. "The delivery of strategic goods, such as Kazakh grain, metals to Kuwait are planned to transport via the corridor," the Ambassador said.
