Azerbaijani banks to continue joining Milli Kart processing centre in 2009

Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 6 / Trend , I.Khaliolova /The Milli Kart limited liability company, which has purchased a processing centre of card payments of the National Bank of Azerbaijan (NBA) in 2006, will continue expansion of its clients among banks of the country in 2009, executive director of the company Jalal Orujov said on Jan. 6.

"A minimum one bank is expected to join the Milli Kart system this year. Bank of Baku became a member of the system in the end of 2008," Orujov said.

In 2008, Milli Kart inked a contract with two banks, which prepare to enter the market of plastic cards. Banks issue first cards after joining the Visa International payment system. Presently fourteen banks are served in the processing centre. According to Orujov, the volume of emissions of cards doubled and exceeded 100,000 units in 2008.

Founders of the centre are Atabank, Azerdemiryolbank, AzerTurkbank, Bank of Baku, Azerbaijan Senayye Bankasi ,  Debutbank, Amrahbank,  Xalq Bank, Credo Bank, Access Bank, ParaBank,  RabitaBank, Bank Respublika, Bank Standard, Texnika Bank, Turan Bank, UniBank and Zamin Bank. Milli Kart was founded with 4mln manats capital.

Now the total number of cards released by Azerikard, where the International Bank of Azerbaijan stands as the one founder, exceeds 3.5 million. The total number of banks operating in this centre is 28.

The most part of cards are of social and salary cards issued by the International Bank of Azerbaijan and Kapital Bank. These two banks occupy 91% of the market. The following banks are Texnika Bank, AG Bank, Bank Standard and Bank Respublika.

The number of banks served via the Azericard system cut after introduction of card business in Milli Kart by four banks - Azerdemiryolbank, UniBank, Zamin Bank and Bank of Baku their.
