Azerbaijani insurance company divulges activities for 2008

The Azerbaijani insurance company Ateshgah's premiums increased 12 percent in 2008, and reached 17.54 million manat.

Ateshgah's premiums on voluntary insurance were 17.44 million manat in 2007, including automobile insurance (7.38 million), fire insurance (1.15 million) and medical insurance (1.76 million). The remaining volume accounted for other types of voluntary insurance.

A total of 95,200 manat accounted for compulsory insurance.

Ateshgah issued 4.48 million manat to cover insurance cases in 2008.

The figure exceeds the 2007 figure by 26.9 percent.

A total of 4.29 million manat accounted for voluntary insurance, including medical insurance (1.53 million), auto insurance (2.35 million) and fire insurance (132,800). The remaining volume accounted for other types of voluntary insurance.

In 2008, 185,000 manat accounted for compulsory insurance.

Ateshgah was established in 1996. The company's authorized capital is 2.7 million manat.

Ateshgah shareholders are the ISR Holding, State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and RAN-Eksim.

On Feb. 2, the official currency rate is 0.8073 manat to $1.
