Rise in money supply (M2) in Azerbaijan hit 568.2 million manat in December 2008 or a 10.3-percent rise, and 1.679 billion manat at an annualized pace (compared to Jan. 1, 2008), or a 38.1-percent rise, National Bank of Azerbaijan (NBA) said on Feb. 10.
M2 was 6.081 billion manat as of Jan. 1, 2009, compared to 5.512 billion manat as of Dec. 1, 2008, and 4.401 billion manat as of Jan. 1, 2008.
Transaction money (M1) hit 5.145 billion manat in the accounted period, compared to 4.593 billion manat as of Dec. 1, and 3.652 billion manat as of Jan. 1, 2008. M1 rise hit 551.3 million manat (12 percent) in December compared to November and 1.492 billion manat (40.85 percent) in an annualized pace.
Cash money supply (M0) rise hit 13 percent (477.2 million manat) in December and 52.8 percent (1.432 billion manat) in 2008. As of Jan. 1, 2009, M0 was 4.145 billion compared to 3.668 billion manat as of Dec. 1, 2008, and 2.713 billion manat as of early 2008.
On Feb. 11, the official exchange rate is 0.8077 manat to $1.
