The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry and State Traffic Police are inspecting roads in Baku to find bus drivers who violate passenger safety regulations, the ministry said on Feb. 19.
Vehicles are undergoing technical examinations as part of the inspection process.
"These inspections are held periodically. The traffic police are imposing fines on drivers who violate passenger safety regulations," the ministry said.
A major violation is transporting too many passengers at one time.
The source did not reveal how many fines have already been written.
The inspections began this week and will last until late February, the source said.
