The government's investments in Azerbaijani regions have increase sixfold in the past 5 years, Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev said at the Gulustan Palace at a conference on the outcomes of the government's socio-economic development program for 2004-2008 on Feb. 23.
"In 2008, state investments in regional development hit 3.9 billion manat - a sixfold increase from 2004," he said.
Regional development investments accounted for 83 percent of total state investments, he said.
"New enterprises were established in all the regions. A total of 27,500 enterprises were opened countrywide. Some 766,000 jobs were created with 80 percent in the regions," Mustafayev said.
