Georgia's President Mikhail Saakashvili got familiarized with spring work on agricultural lands in Sartichal on March 16. The President also listened to Agriculture Minister Bakura Kvezereli's report.

A private farmer owns this territory and plans to cultivate sunflower.

Everything must be done to save Georgia's agriculture in terms of the world economic crisis, Georgia's President said.

The government implements program of cheap loan on this regard. There is a program of diesel oil distribution. Tractors were given to villages, Saakashvili said.

"Unemployment problem will be solved in villages on this regard. As a result agricultural production will cheapen in towns," the President said.

Many lands suitable for sowing have not cultivated in Georgia. The government must work more active on this regard, the President said.

"I was in Dusheti some days ago and found out that only 15 percent of agricultural lands have been cultivated there. Such lands must not remain uncultivated. Explanatory work should be conducted with villagers, as well as aid should be rendered to them," Saakashvili said.
