Azerbaijani economic development minister Shahin Mustafayev met with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development President Thomas Mirow as a part of the Board of Governors' meeting in London and discussed future cooperation. The meeting took place on May 15-16.
EBRD invested 865 billion euro to finance projects in Azerbaijan for the last 17 years. In 2008, the bank invested 81 million euro and 122 million in 2007.
The EBRD representative office said the Azerbaijani delegation held presentation about Azerbaijan at the annual meeting. Azerbaijan was represented by a delegation comprising Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev, Azerbaijan Investment Company Executive Director Afgan Isayev and State Oil Fund Director Shahmar Movsumov. The business group director of the EBRD countries of South-Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Olivier Dekamp and EBRD Director for Caucasus, Moldova and Belarus Paul-Henri Forestière participated in the presentation.
The focus of the ongoing two-day business forum, the program of discussions, country presentations, specialized groups and events to establish contacts is the impact of global economic crisis on the region of the impact of the EBRD. Discussion groups discussed liquidity crisis, commodity dependence and the prospects of development of capital markets.
